We arrived at Ihlara Valley, our first stop, around 12 noon with our indispensable coffee breaks on our Cappadocia tour journey, which we left from Izmir with our own vehicle around 02:00 at night. For the Return; After our breakfast in the morning, we visited Konya Mevlana Museum and Atatürk House respectively on the way back to Izmir. Of course, let's not skip the etli bread in front of the Mevlana Museum before these visits :)
Places to visit in Cappadocia :
Ihlara Valley
Narligol
Derinkuyu Underground City
Asmalı Konak
Uchisar Castle
Wisteria Hill
Mysterious Cave Suites
Lovers Hill
Goreme Open Air Museum
Master's Place
Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli Tomb
1.Ihlara Valley
Since we arrived at Ihlara Valley at noon and the entrance line was very crowded, we did not go inside but preferred to observe it from the outside. For those who are curious about the canyon, we recommend that you come here early in the morning.
2.Narligol
Then we went to see Narlıgöl, a natural lake. If you are curious about the lake while you are here, do not pass by without seeing this place with a wonderful view. Just be aware that there is nothing around this lake :)
3.Derinkuyu Underground City
After Narlıgöl, we entered Derinkuyu Underground City, which we were most curious about. This place consists of 8 floors built thanks to the geological formation of the Cappadocia region and consists of places that will accommodate a large community and meet their needs. There are such narrow passages inside that it takes your breath away... :)
4.Asmalı Konak
Before we get too carried away underground, we go to Asmalı Konak, which became famous during and after the filming of the 2002-2003 Turkish TV series Asmalı Konak, and which has been turned into a kind of museum for fans of the series to visualize the memorable scenes. The surroundings, the streets are perfect... Fans of the series should definitely experience that ambiance.
5.Uchisar Castle
From this beautiful mansion to Uchisar Castle, where we left for the sunset, we could not go inside because we missed the closing time because we were too carried away by the magnificence of these places :) And then we set off to watch the sunset again for Uchisar Castle, which we could not enter yesterday. After experiencing this sunset, it was more than worth the hundreds of stairs to the top of the castle and the 2nd time we went there :)
6.Wisteria Hill
We left Uchisar Castle without wasting time and went to Salkim Hill, where we could observe hundreds of fairy chimneys and enjoy them until darkness fell. There are also places where you can eat and drink something against the view.
7.Mysterious Cave Suites
And at the end of the day, we went to our hotel Mysterious Cave Suites in Goreme to relieve our tiredness. This is a stone hotel decorated in Cappadocia. You can enjoy your breakfast and drinks on the balcony and terrace with the view of Goreme. Especially at night, the terrace is great for having a drink while chatting :)
8.Lovers Hill
The biggest factor in choosing our hotel was that it was right under the Lovers Hill in Goreme. You can get up at 6 in the morning, walk up here and watch dozens of balloons being prepared and rising to the sky with the sunrise. It is inevitable to capture unique shots at these moments :) Make sure you sacrifice your sleep and experience it!
9.Goreme Open Air Museum
As we said, after capturing our unique shots, we went to Göreme Open Air Museum. This is a church complex built in the Middle Ages by carving into volcanic rocks and decorated with friezes. A.D.. From the 4th century until the 13th century, monastic life was intensively lived and there are churches, chapels, dining halls and sitting areas in almost every rock block. It has also been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1985.
10.Master's Place
After experiencing this medieval area, we move on to Avanos to fill our bellies. Of course, we visited Paşabağı, Zelve Valley and historical Avanos houses beforehand and in line with the information we received from local people, we got the suggestion of “Usta'nın Yeri” as a place to eat test kebab. We are glad we asked:) First of all, we went to the place, placed our order and were told that it would take about 45 minutes, so we could walk around a bit and come back. So instead of waiting, we continued to explore :)
11.Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli Tomb
After filling our bellies, we set off to visit the Tomb of Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli, which UNESCO included in the Tentative List of World Heritage Sites in 2012. It is the 8th most visited museum in Turkey.
